Artistic Work/Painting Copyright

Work that comes out from creativity and innovation in form of drawing, engravings and craftsmanship are the work of Artists. For a picture to be ordinary one shed all its sweat and blood. The Copyright Act gives the authority to claim for the right if someone tries to steal the work.. The Berne Convention states that two generations of the artists should benefit from the copyright of the previous generations. The artist is the authorized to be the first owner of the art. If he contractually gets an employer like magazines, newspapers or studios, it becomes their property.

Privileges of the author under the Copyright Act:

  • The Artist have the right to reconstruct the work in the way he wants it to be
  • No one other than him can reconstruct the work.
  • If anyone wants to use it in the cinema or films, it should the prior permission before of the artist before using it.
