Cinematography Copyright

When a story is presented or any content is shown in the audio-visual format, we can call it as cinematography. While working on cinematography of a film, there are several people who are associated in a film but the absolute right is only held by the producer.

The rights that is beheld by the producer:

  • Making a copy, photograph or produce it in parts or in the way he opts it to be
  • He can sell or resell it or give it on hire
  • The producer also holds the right to promote the film to the public.

Adaption of a particular literary of the film should be with the prior consent of the producer. The Copyright is just limited to the cinematography and not to the music of the film. The sole owner of the music is the composer and he holds the copyright of the music.
